Artistic Concept - The Trilogy:
Across three albums, SongAh Chae Trio has developed a cohesive body of work inspired by the Book of Psalms. This trilogy approaches the Psalms not as text to be interpreted directly, but as a source of emotional atmosphere and structural reflection.
The project explores how instrumental music can carry a sense of continuity and depth without relying on voice or explicit narrative. Instead, meaning emerges through pacing, silence, and interaction.
Over the course of the trilogy, the music gradually moves toward reduction—shedding excess and arriving at a more distilled language, where each element holds greater weight and presence.
SongAh Chae Trio,
based in Valencia, Spain, performs contemporary jazz where composition and improvisation merge into a single evolving voice.
Rather than fixed compositions, these materials are reshaped in performance through structure, space, and interaction.
