SongAhChae is a pianist and composer based in Valencia, Spain. Her music draws from the literatures, scriptures, and landscape — vast, contemplative, and deeply lyrical.

After studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (B.M.)and Berklee Valencia (M.A.), SongAh developed a distinctive voice that bridges the traditions of European classical music with the spontaneity and freedom of jazz improvisation.

SongAh’s dedication to composing is central to her musical career, inspired by Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen and Swedish pianist Bobo Stenson. As an independent musician. Her musical identity is defined by a blend of refined lyricism and rhythmic vitality — she moves fluently between delicate, introspective passages and energetic, groove-driven improvisation.

Her trio, formed in 2023 with bassist Manos Stratis and drummer JoshuaWheatley, has become one of the most acclaimed ensembles in contemporary European jazz.

Their sound with her composition — spacious, intimate, and richly textured — has been characterized distinctively.

With a distinctive style that is rapidly gaining recognition in Valencia and worldwide, Korean-origin pianist SongAh Chae leads a trio that delivers lyrical and hypnotic music creating a sound as if they are a single voice.

SongAh has performed at major festivals across Europe including London Jazz Festival, Madrid Jazz Festival, Feminajazz, Fifty-Fifty Jazz Festival, UPV Jazz Festival. Since 2022, she has been a resident performer at the renowned Jimmy Glass Jazz Bar in Valencia.

She has spoken candidly about her experience as a female band-leader in a male-dominated jazz scene, using her work to help pave the way for more women instrumentalists in jazz.

She has released five albums as a leader, and trio’s new album All Day Long is scheduled to be released in coming April, 2026.
